Ann began her journey with watercolor after living in Hawaii for a total of
15 years and being inspired by it's beauty.
Both her mother and brother were and are exceptionally talented in the
media of oils and acrylics, and Ann thought it might be in her blood too.
She had always longed to learn how to paint, but just never got around to it.
Finally it seemed like the right time, with no drawing or painting education,
Ann sought to learn on her own.
She read a few books and in 2004 took a couple of Parks & Recreation
classes in the Northwest (where she grew up). In the summer of 2004, Ann,
her husband and their daughter returned to Hawaii.  And in August of
2005, she found a wonderful local artist, Susan Cardenas, on the windward
side of Oahu, and took some serious classes from her.  With Susan's
teaching and many hours of practice, Ann began to find her own style in the
media of watercolor.
People saw that Ann had been blessed with a gift.  They loved her
paintings and encouraged her to sell her work.  Soon friends and their
friends began commissioning her and purchasing her works, which built up
her confidence. Ann decided to "Go For It" about three years into her
journey, and her paintings are now available to the public.
Ann currently works in her church's bookstore/cafe. You can view some of
her work there (see
NEWS page for the address), or on this website in
the
GALLERY page, and at  Art On the Zoo Fence in Waikiki (please
see
NEWS page for schedule).
Ann donates ten percent of her profits to several outreach ministries in
Uganda that work with AIDs orphanages, widows and churches.
Ann has been a member of the Hawaii Watercolor Society since 2005.
She and her family live in Hawaii on the island of Oahu. When Ann is able
to find some spare time, she enjoys"hanging out" with her family, going to
the beach, snorkeling and showing friends around Hawaii.
“I love Hawaii, it’s
unique beauty, it’s
culture,and  the
many kinds of
people that live
here. I love the
beauty of God's
creation that
surrounds me   It
is a joy to paint
the beauty that is
in our islands, and
a joy to share it
with others. Just
about all my work
comes from what
I see and
experience in the
Islands. I like to
use the bright,
vivid colors that
we see
everywhere.
